ENDOCRINE
short film
2022
Dom just survived a jump into the Thames. Together with his boyfriend Sam, he navigates a dark new world of crutches, casts and aquaphobia.
Directed by Daniel Curtis after his debut With Teeth was nominated for Best Short and Best Director at White Deer International Film Festival and Best Short at Birmingham Film Festival, Endocrine is a 16mm short that brings a fragile topic to life with warmth and tenderness.
Endocrine voices the difficulties faced not only by those struggling with mental health issues, but also by their partners, friends, and loved ones as they try to learn how best to support them. In so doing, it brings to light the power of compassion and open, honest sharing of emotions; in a time where 15 in every 100,000 men commit suicide every year, it shows that although the path to recovery may be difficult, it is possible.
